Japan has taken steps to build an IT university in Bangladesh. The Fujitsu Research Institute, a multinational technological institute, will go for a soft launching of the university on 10 February 2022, to mark the golden jubilee of the Bangladesh-Japan diplomatic relationship. The construction of the university will be supervised by the Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority.
In a meeting with Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Minister of State for Information and Communication Technology, on Tuesday, April 20, various information was presented about the steps taken to build the university.
Speaking on the occasion, Palak said that due to this initiative, IT companies in Bangladesh will be employed in Japanese companies. At the same time, this university will create the future IT leadership of Bangladesh.

The state minister said the university could be built on the basis of infrastructure at Bangabandhu Industrial City in Chittagong, Bhaluka, Kaliakair Hitech Park, or Hitech Park in Sylhet.
Zunaid Ahmed Palak further said that Japan has already set up universities in Kenya and Mexico. He also said that the establishment of a university in Bangladesh will further strengthen the relationship between Bangladesh and Japan.
Mahbub Zaman, president of the proposed Digital Device Innovation, Production and Exporters Association, Satoshi Suzuki of the Fujitsu Research and Institute, FIR Imamur, and Hi-Tech Park Authority director Shafiqul Islam were present at this virtual meeting and this program is hosted by Shami Ahmed, Policy Advisor, Leverage in ICT.
